TEN BEST REASONS TO HIRE A

PROFESSIONAL DOG PHOTOGRAPHER

INSTAGLAM

You take great photos with your mobile device. It may even have Pro or Pro Max in its name. But if you’re like the average phone photographer, your images may be blurred, over-exposed and pixelated when enlarged. A professional photographer has years of experience and training to know how to use their artistic talent and software skills. Result - an astounding image. Why not see all that detail in your dog’s fur? Those long eyelashes? The action shot that proves your dog has superpowers? Besides. It won’t just be your word anymore - you’ll have the glorious proof that your dog is fabulously fabulous.

ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT

Pro photographers have years of training and experience predicting how your dog can be showcased. They spend quality time with you before each session, during a consultation that reveals your wishes and your dog’s talents. Their choice of location is crucial to getting the oooh and aaah images that complement with your dog. An artistic eye and a well-chosen environment equals an opportunity that wouldn’t be possible on your regular walks.

Understanding relationships is what photographers do, every time we talk to a new family about their dog. There’s invaluable information to be learned by asking the right questions, listening carefully and considering the priorities of the individual session. Through the years I have learned that being emotionally invested in the session increases my focus and adds a little bit of “photographer love” that makes images extraordinary. Watching and anticipating your dog’s behaviours and signs, based on temperament and history, pro photographers beam themselves into your dog’s life for the time we are together.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

GEARED FOR SUCCESS

Within a session, a pro takes hundred of photos. Hundreds, literally. Because a simple blink of an eye or a mouth twitch can make a huge difference,  it’s so important to be catching all of the action. This type of attention to detail is possible with exceptional gear (with very speedy shutter speeds) and many, many hours of experience with dogs. Additionally, come people love the quirky rather than the refined images. Totally OK. I want to capture them all for you to choose from.

Have you tried to photograph your dogs together? Fun, isn’t it. You get many “there’s always one in every crowd” photos. Sure, those get attention on instagram. A professional photographer knows how to get each of them in focus. And if needed, they can skillfully use the magic of technology to make it look like they were peacefully sitting together.

TOGETHERNESS

Phone photos are instantaneous, it’s true. Snap, look, post. Taking a few moments with planning and thinking, your photographer knows how to guide you and your dog through a photography session. They know when to thoughtfully build a bit more time in to the session, as with senior dogs. A great session involves relaxed prep time, session photography that highlights your dog’s abilities, and Flex Time for movement and play. Your session should be so relaxed and fun that the experience is built into the images.

EASY DOES IT

personally yours

I feel like I can predict the potential of an image by knowing what is possible to achieve with a bit more effort and a few added tech-ie skills. When you are in the image reveal of gallery proofs, you can select what you love and discuss possibilities of slight changes that have great impact. There are usual ways to edit out things like leashes, and there are endless ways to add a bit of software magic. Creating art as unique as your dog is my goal.

Art is subjective. As consumers, we are willing to pop into a home decor store and buy mass-produced art for our walls. With a professional photography session, you have the opportunity of a lifetime - yours and your dog’s. A signature session is as unique as you. Through the initial consultation, we chat about what type of dog images you’re dreaming of. Everything is custom designed where you are the priority. This allows you to see your dog as she/he really is - with all the fur detail, those facial markings, those crazy mannerisms that define their personality. Now imagine that displayed on your home walls. Something to cherish every single day.

it’s all you

Professional photographers have the resources and the network to create fine art that will be heirloom quality. I want to capture images worthy of forever display, then help you achieve that. Art produced on the very best, museum-quality paper will not fade with time. The true, vibrant coat colors pop against realistic outdoor settings in the most elegant of presentations.

I KNOW A GUY

NO REGRETS

A pro dog photographer will be able to capture all of the life stages of your best friend. From puppyhood to adult, to the end of life: all of these seasons are worth getting professional photos of. The puppy stage is so brief and we often forget how cute and smoochy it is (think tiny toe beans…).  Humans snap candids all of the time and forget to see how special these moments are. Then during a dog’s final season, the appearance is more dignified and regal. Regrets happen when you’ve missed the beauty in each phase.
