Embrace the Oooops

Pongo the Pomsky, once again demonstrating that he no plans any time soon to be a model.

Not every photo session has a posed dog. Here are my tips on what to do with the fun, yet uncooperative doggo.

Pomskies, like all dogs, have different personalities. My dog Parka is intense, serious and very protective. Pongo (seen above) is a goof. A derp. Not photogenic. And that’s totally OK with me. Parka is the poser. He’ll jump up on any nearby rock, knowing that it would probably result in treats. He sits patiently, looking left and right for whatever profile his silly Mom is waiting for. He knows to wait for the click and the jubilant “OK”!.

I’m super lucky to get anything I can use with Pongo. About 95% of his photos are like this: anything but majestic. But I’m thankful. Pongo teaches me to anticipate movement and be prepared for anything spontaneous.

If you have a new puppy, or a goofy dog like Pongo, fear not. Apparently I’m well-trained.
